After almost a decade and a half of being off the air, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters finally comes to DVD thanks to Shout! Factory. I've made it a goal of mine to get all the DVD releases of the old Nickelodeon shows Shout! releases on DVD, and I was doing very well. Until all of a sudden, the stores in my area, Walmart, Target, even Best Buy, stopped selling these releases, old and new. I have no clue what happened there, but it made it very difficult to get the DVDs, as I wished to get them on the day they were released. Most recently, Walmart isn't even selling newer releases online. I don't know how Shout! is expecting to make money off these with such limited releases.Today I ordered the newest releases of The Angry Beavers, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Danny Phantom, and Hey Arnold all online.
Also finished season 2 of Real Monsters today. It has become one of my favorite older cartoons, and I had never even heard of the show before Shout! started releasing it on DVD last October. The only thing I really don't like about these releases, is that there are no special features! >:(
For those who don't know, it's a pretty dark show, like Invader Zim, that centers around a trio of monsters that are in school for the art of scaring humans. The show takes events and obstacles that happen in our every day lives, and twists them to what they might be like if monsters truly did exist. This is a show I'd recommend to any cartoon lover like myself! :)
